This has the ability to remind us that if you look at an obese person and decide without talking to the indidividual they are a bad person because they are fat proves that behind the weight is someone who has a heart. This is someone who could has a reason why they have chose to harm their body through food.
Rebecca had to put up with so much crap from people, definitely something I can re;ate to Rebecca's story, the stares. I only have a walking stick and the amount of people that stare - not used to seeing a young person with a walking stick and what is even worse is if I decide to feel a bit like a 'lady' I put on heels and the stares get even worse.
I couldn't put this down, so snuggled up wih my Poodle as I too felt the emotions with Rebecca on her journey.
I was really dissappointed to know that so many people judged Rebecca before getting to know her, but her strentgh of character got her through these times.
My personal space to have a whine, share some woes and tell a few secrets. Thanks for listening. x

Snow White
An exciting and interesting adaption of Snow White. Following the usual foundations of the storyline the film throws in it own slant. This version defnitely catches your attention and the Queen is superb, and she is involved in some creepy moments such as the talking mirror and turning Monday in stone. the Queen's brother is quite a dark character - he grants the wishes. And another rather scarey moment when the gnoes go in for the kill!!
The dwarfs were named days of the week; I rather liked Wednesday.
Strange story really - a woman who wants to be the most beautiful woman and is willing to kill for it. Yikes, that is scarey.

Shoot The Damn Dog - Sally Brampton
A very interesting account of someone suffering depression. The book delves into the depths of Sally's mind and reaches her darkest moments. For Non-sufferers of drpression sally offers an insight into the experiences that someone can go through mentally, physcally and even the addictions.
Sally show depression is a deep dark spiral which can keep spinning out of control until the suffererer finds anyway to make it stop however self-destructive that may be.he word Depression can beused so lightly, but it is an illness which affects the individual in so many ways.
This book could be beneficial for those who are dealing with family or friends who are currently suffering with depression - helping to decide how to handle situations, what to say.
The main thing that sticks out is someone suffering with depression needs a support network, Do not walk away and let them suffer alone.
And I think everyone will spot themelves somewhere among the pages.

Stardust
I have watched this film so many times and it is such a pleasure to watch. This is a Sunday evening film with a takeway. Nothing too strenuous to think about.
Such a wonderful storyline, this magical film I can watch over and over again and everytime enjoy the characers and inparticular De Niro with his crew of Pirates who are all so cute. And I espeically like the Goat who becomes a man, just thinking about him makes me giggle.
Infact go and watch it right now with a pop and some popcorn.

Fire in The Blood - Nemirovsky
Who is this woman and why have I never heard of her??? She is seriously awesome.
The introduction to the story explains how Nemirovsky wrote the first few pages but unfortunately died during the second World War; a Jewish lady who went through what so many others did.
Years later when her family went through her papers they uncovered more pages only to realise it had actually been completed.
Fire In the Blood is a short story but so many things occur. On the surface characters and relationships are shown through tainted glasses; they attempt to show themselves in a good light, but after one event happens this sets off a chain of events to reveal what stories are hidden beneath the surface.
The main story revolves around a family so gleeful and twee yet slowly opens up hidden secrets shut up and closed away for years.
Nemirovsky's connection with human emotions and thoughts is just incredible; a woman so intuitive you wonder where she found inspiration for the story. She has such a wnderful talent to squeeze so many events into a short space of time.
This story has definitely left mewanting to read more of her works and discover who this lady is.

Billionaire Boy - David Walliams
This must be read by everyone, it is just brilliant. The Rajmobile moment made me cry with laughter; I had to stop reading to wipe away the tears, only to start laughing some more. I even managed to wake my husband, whilst trying to minimise noise and body shaking from laughter, who was sleeping next to me.
There are definitely some true facts in this book, for example, the teachers top 10 phrases and people with certain names who should completely and utterly stay away from teaching such as Bob Head - far to easy to twist into a naughty name.
Walliams, I would consider to be a genius, once again, he highlights that being different is good and friendship can get you through tough times. I coudn't put it down, I finished it within a couple of hours.
I demand you read this book and ensure it is in your child's Christmas stocking.
If you ever happen to stroll upon this blog Mr Walliams you are more than welcome round our house for a cream tea anytime.

Angel - Katie Price
As I failed miserably trying to read her autobiography I decided to try her first novel. This is not most amazing piece of literature you will come across.
It is a jam packed storyline - but to be hoest it could have been a version of the autobiographies made into a novel.
A bunch of girlie trash and I cringed reading it. I did make it to the end and pased it on to my sister who desperately wanted to read it. Each to their own!!!

Being Jordan
I attempted to read Jordan's autobiography as she is an interestng character; behaving in a manner where her body and her image are her business so I was intrigued what drove this business woman. I am sorry to say Jordan I couldn't do it; I only read in a few pages and really could not stomach her vocabulary. I really will try to read this another time as I am willing to read everything. I jumped ahead and read the odd page but this just confirmed my initial feelings when Jordan started delving into her thoughts of Peter Andre's genitalia and that was enough for me. Sorry Jordan, will attempt another time.

Five Families
A very indepth red documenting the families power and fortune. My knowledge of the Mafia was limited, nd only what I grasped from films such as The Godfather, but this is a real 'eye opener'.
Even after you have read through the experiences is still seems incredible that these people existed and the Cosa Nostra still contines to have power today.
This is not a light read and there are a couple of times i didnt think I could finish the book as it can get a lttle confusing as there are so many things happening, in particular wen it came to creating the side of the law and trying to describe it, my poor brain hurt a couple of times.
There is a vicious of betrayal and breaking the rules and omerta. And many memebrs of the fmaily old their story o big film production companies.
These guys were clever at what they did, but also sad how they would literally stab each other in the back to save their own life either from death or prison. Was there any real reltionships that existed in the family.
Even as I type this, I wonder how can one live a life constantly guarding one's self even against other fmaily members. There life was so monetarily rich, but true friendship was so poor.
There is something so ridiculous about these gus yet so fascintaing that I want to know about each of them indept. How does someone enter a lifetime into a business knowing that their only way out ot if is in a coffin. just irritatinly, wondefully freak............ I need more input.

The Shining - Stephen King
Just finished this extensive read. Watching the film one can't help but compare the film to the book and the 3 part series.
I really liked the concept behind this story, a hotel , the Overlook, has it's own life force; through all the demonic and horrific events that have taken place, it begins to pick at people to join the ghostly goings on and jin the party that never ends.
If you have only watched the film you must read this book, it offers the full story and the extent that each charcter experiences during their time at the hotel. Dick Hollarann is a key character and emphasies what is 'The Shining'.
Stanley Kubrick's version, is just that; a version of this story which moves away from the Stephen King tale, and, as always, puts his own eeire and bizarre stint on it.

12 TWELVE
I was rather intrigued as soon as this film started, a bunch of people with too much many bet money on fighters. The fights have no rules, the winner is the fighter who knocks their opponent down and their opponent can get back up again; so involves many health risks and even death.
12 fighters must make their way through the rounds to win £500k and the back also wins a hefty sum. The fighers have names but mainly called by what they do: Policeman, Delinquent, Homeless, the Foreigner.
I though it was strange that they kept the uniform on, in which society would recognise them, but looking at it, it is making a statement that us mere mortals (the regular joe's in society) are defined by what we do, where as those with money can just walk away from. The only emotion shown was whe one of the high and mighty was angry, not for losing money, but just for loosing.

Tulip Fever - Deborah Moggach
Period dramas and stories scare me a little. If approached, it is always with caution. I couldn't offer an explanation for this behaviour. Perhaps an unconscious memory lingers and haunts me when as a child mother made me watch "All Creatures Great and Small"!
Tulip Fever has a very good storyline, I did not want to put the book down; desperate to know the ending. The story is pieced together by the author through artwork, all sounds terribly romantic but the story is not. The artwork that inspired Moggach's storyline are shown on two occasion with the book.
As the story lines unfold the characters you originally despised you become to like and vice versa, it emphasises thoughts: how one would respond to such situations, and how does one possibly deceive others to the point of her death. There is a little waffle within some description; perhaps this is needed to aide description, or create greater depth and allow a greater understanding of the situations and people.
There was a verse at the beginning of each chapter, which I didn't quite understand; it only revealed part of the story that was to come
the ending was some what obvious what would happen to the two runaways, none the less, I was still hooked and enthralled by the adventure I shared of deceit and lies. Plus a little saddened when Willem truns a bit pompous! I suppose many can change people.

Man's Search For Meaning
This is just amazing. Everyone needs to read this book. It certainly puts into perspective how enriched our lives have become. Being a survivor from a Concentration Camp, stripped of every aspect of who you are: your family, possessions, even your name and body hair. Being left with the shell of your body which is slowly diminishes through hard labour and lack of food. How does one come from such a place back to who you once were.
Well, Viktor Frankl did and through his experience explored a new therapy: Logotherapy.
Personally, I didn't understand it as a therapy but a way of living. changing your views on life and the situation within which we find ourselves and how we respond to it and to each other.
Read this book, if you don't take something from it, I will eat my hat. It will encourage you to think about your own life and certainly how I make a mountain out of a teeny weeny mole hill, or dwell on a feeling or situation. This puts me to shame, but makes me want to change myself and not be ruled by fear and emotion, such trivias in the great scheme of things.
