Who is this woman and why have I never heard of her??? She is seriously awesome.
The introduction to the story explains how Nemirovsky wrote the first few pages but unfortunately died during the second World War; a Jewish lady who went through what so many others did.
Years later when her family went through her papers they uncovered more pages only to realise it had actually been completed.
Fire In the Blood is a short story but so many things occur. On the surface characters and relationships are shown through tainted glasses; they attempt to show themselves in a good light, but after one event happens this sets off a chain of events to reveal what stories are hidden beneath the surface.
The main story revolves around a family so gleeful and twee yet slowly opens up hidden secrets shut up and closed away for years.
Nemirovsky's connection with human emotions and thoughts is just incredible; a woman so intuitive you wonder where she found inspiration for the story. She has such a wnderful talent to squeeze so many events into a short space of time.
This story has definitely left mewanting to read more of her works and discover who this lady is.
